CHRPA has a long history of work with volunteers, some who are short-term and some who have been with the organization for 15 years. Volunteers generally work in teams of two with a staff person or another volunteer. The team is provided with tools and a vehicle, and has a great opportunity to meet a wide variety of people in the community who need a hand with a critical housing issue. Our volunteers range in age from 22-75 and are former teachers, art students, contractors, and farmers. Volunteers are an essential part of our program.

We place high value on a culture of respect and compassion for our clients and we strive to create a supportive and affirming teaching/learning environment among the staff and volunteers. We all have a lot to learn and a lot to teach. We offer on-the-job training for volunteers and welcome any skills that our volunteer may already have to offer. Our crews are out Monday-Thursday.

If you are interested in volunteering contact the office at either 520-745-2055 or send an email to chrpa@chrpaz.org

The Board of Directors of CHRPA is responsible for the overall mission of the organization as well as setting the tone and values of CHRPA.

The board does this through gathering input from the community, clients, staff and volunteers. The board oversees the Executive Director who implements the mission along with all the CHRPA staff and our many dedicated volunteers. Please contact us if you would be interested in serving on our board.

We have a unique opportunity for a unique individual. We are a non-profit agency that performs emergency home repair for low-income homeowners in Tucson and Pima County. We are looking for an employee who has skills in three essential areas:

1) The person must have significant expertise in at least one of these fields: plumbing, electrical or HVAC. The applicant does not have to be expert in all trades, but broad experience and expertise in at least one of these fields is required.

2) The successful applicant will be patient, kind, gentle and compassionate. We work with vulnerable people in various degrees of crisis, and the job involves being able to interact constructively with a great variety of clients. Think: social worker with a tool box.

3) The person for this position must also be a good communicator and instructor. We work with volunteers who need to learn skills and who need guidance and encouragement.

All three of these qualities are essential for this position. It is a fairly unique person who will succeed at this work. If you are interested in applying, please read our website (www.chrpaz.org) and understand the mission of the agency before applying. In your cover letter, please address all three areas mentioned as essential skills.

To apply, please send a cover letter and resume to director@chrpaz.org. The subject line in your email should read: Tech / Supervisor Application.
