Back O' The Page Stories

Written July 6, 2009

I was born in June of 1988. The firstborn son, I grew up and remain in Tucson living with my mother and brother, who were born in 1955 and 1992 respectively. My childhood was hectic, as my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, and my brother was diagnosed with moderate to severe epilepsy, as well as mild mental retardation. I myself was diagnosed with ADHD.

In the beginning of 2003, I met my father for the first time. He and I still do not have a steady relationship, admittedly by my own fault, but I am currently making another attempt to reestablish steady communication with him. Around the same time I met my father, I began volunteering for Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona (a.k.a CHRPA), and have been volunteering for them ever since, albeit sporadically.

In 2006, I graduated from Howenstine High Magnet School. After graduation, I began job searching while I ran a computer repair business on the side. After two years of attempting and failing to acquire a job, I finally predisposed myself to attending college in August 2008. In May of 2009, I completed my first year of college at Pima Community College with a 3.61 grade point average (which is considerably higher than my GPA in high school). My current major is Computer Engineering.

I still volunteer for CHRPA as a field worker, and their new website administrator. Additionally, I am currently in the process of preparing for my second year of college, and looking forward to being the first in my family to have earned a college degree.
