| Back O' The Page Stories 7/03 By Scott CoverdaleWe have a client in the far West who has a severely disabled daughter as well as two other children. She lives in something of a wildcat house, which was tacked together over several years by her former husband. We got a call from a health care provider who told us that they are wanting to work with the child more, but that they would like to get her a hospital bed which would be higher and adjustable. Unfortunately, the plywood floor of her room was unable to take the weight of the bed. Matt and Nick tore up the floor and found that the shower from the adjoining bath had never been plumbed, and was draining underneath the plywood. So Matt and Tim and Nick spent three days removing the floor and replumbing the bathroom, replacing the shower floor and walls in the process. The client's uncle, brother and firstborn son helped out by repairing sheetrock and leveling the dirt and three yards of fill. Tomorrow, Matt and a concrete finisher are going to pour a slab and small ramp for the new floor. There is plenty of other work to do at the house, but this will be a major improvement for them. Sometimes we open a can of worms.
